Returns & Refunds — Backwash VTG
Every item we sell is a unique vintage, pre-owned or deadstock piece. We photograph and describe each item's true condition — including any wear, ageing or flaws — so you know exactly what you're buying. By placing an order, you accept the described condition of the item.
Change-of-mind returns We accept change-of-mind returns only where required by law — for customers in the EU and UK, within 14 days of receiving the order, under the statutory right of withdrawal. For orders shipped anywhere else, all sales are final and we do not accept change-of-mind returns. (Faulty or not-as-described items are always covered — see below.)
How to start a return (EU / UK) Email backwashvtg@gmail.com within 14 days of receiving your order, telling us you want to withdraw. We'll then send you the return address and instructions. You have a further 14 days to ship the item back. Items sent back without requesting a return first will not be accepted.
Condition & value deductions Returned items must come back in the exact condition they were sent, with all tags attached. You may inspect and try an item on, but not wear, wash, alter or damage it. Any loss of condition or value — signs of wear, washing, alteration, missing tags, odour or damage — is deducted from your refund, up to 100% of the item's price. This means a return that does not come back exactly as it was sent may receive a reduced refund, or no refund at all. Condition is assessed by us on receipt.
Return shipping All return shipping costs are paid by the customer, including any customs or import charges. You must use a tracked and insured service and pack the item securely — the item is your responsibility until it reaches us, and we are not liable for returns lost or damaged in transit.
Refunds Refunds are issued only after we receive and inspect the item. If it passes inspection, we refund to your original payment method within 14 days. For EU/UK withdrawals the refund includes the original standard delivery cost (up to our cheapest standard option); return shipping is not refunded.
Non-returnable items The following are excluded from change-of-mind returns, as permitted by law:
- Print-on-demand, made-to-order or personalised items, produced specifically for you.
- Swimwear and boardshorts supplied with a hygiene seal, once that seal has been removed. This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty or not as described.
Faulty, damaged or wrong items Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If an item is faulty, damaged in transit or not as described, email us straight away and we'll put it right. As these are used goods, they carry an 18-month legal guarantee of conformity from delivery under Portuguese law (Decreto-Lei n.º 84/2021). This applies to all customers and cannot be waived.
